Entire family arrested and driven out of home in Muslim majority village for opposing sexual harassment

Mrittika (name changed), student of Class XII at Khaiberia Vivekananda Vidyapith, and living in village: Mithapukur, P.O. Buita, P.S. Budge Budge District: 24 Paraganas (South) didn’t imagine ever that her lone protest against sexual harassments by Amirul Sheikh, embroiderer by profession (s/o Sheikh Haidar Ali – worker in a nearby manufacturing plant), would bring a disaster on her whole family.

Amirul Shiekh, to be precise, was hell-bent to take hold of Mrittika at any cost and with this end in view, he used to proffer marriage proposals to the Hindu girl for all time. Mrittika, badly shaken, used to reject the offer at each time.

On June 11, 2013, Amriul Sheikh went to the residence of Mrittika all alone to take her away. Family members of Mrittika, stunned at this audacious approach of his, asked people in the neighborhood to deal with the issue. Leaders of both communities assembled in the residence of Sukhendu Bikash Sardar (father of Mrittika) and made a truce. It is to be noted, Mithapukur is a Muslim dominated village containing 8 Hindu households only.

Contrary to the expectation, a band of toughs, belonging to the Muslim community, attacked the residence of Mrittika on the following day, June 12, 2013 at 9 pm with full might. It became impossible for the family to resist them and had no way but suffer the devastation. The adjoining houses, belonging to their in-laws, couldn’t help them as well.

The assault went for hours. Sardar family, at last, could contact Khokon Naskar, husband of Tamasha – elder sister of Mrittika. And owing to his insistence a large police contingent went to Mrittika’s residence and brought the entire family out of the residence safely.

But another surprise was awaiting them in the police station. Once the Sardar family stepped into the police station, they were taken into custody! When the stupefied Sardar family asked the reason behind it, they were told Amirul Sheikh had lodged an official complaint against the Sardar family on June 12, 2013 in the morning. Hence, the entire family was booked under Case No. 213/13 dtd June 12, 2013 u/s 326, 341, 225, 34.

The question remains why Amirul Sheikh acted thus. Further investigations confirm that Amriul was never in a position to accord the truce. As a result, on June 12, 2013, in the morning, he got admitted to a nearby hospital and based on the same false report of injury, he lodged an FIR at P.S. Budge Budge against Mrittika and her entire family.

Here is the list of arrested persons:

1)      Sukhendu Bikash Sardar
2)      Kamal Krishna Sardar (eldest son of Sukhendu)
3)      Kalpana Sardar (wife of Sukhendu)
4)      Aparna Sardar (wife of Kamal Krishna)
5)      Tamasa Naskar (elder sister of Mrittika)
6)      Mrittika

It is worthwhile to mention, none of the attackers including Amriul, Farooq, Sheikh Sabbir, Zuba, Zaku and Khaja was taken into custody by the police. Strikingly, when police went to the residence of Sardar family, these assaulters were present there. But this didn’t impress police to lodge cases against them.

Even if the Sardar family has been bailed out and it has returned to Mithapukur, Mrittika has been sent to an unknown place for safety.

Hindu Samhati’s Protest March in Bangaon

To raise awareness regarding the recent developments in Bengal and how a venomous network of cross-border criminals is spreading  its tentacles to destroy the peace and tranquility of the state, the Bangaon unit of Hindu Samhati organized a massive rally on June 24, 2013 from Bangaon Town Hall at 5 pm. The procession was led by local Hindu Samhati activists and joined by enthusiastic locals desiring to voice their protests against the reign of terror. Gradually, the procession turned into a massive rally while it moved through Jessore Road, Batar More and then through the Bangaon Station Road.

The spontaneity of the procession can be found from people who listened to the speech of Shri Ajit Adhikary patiently even though a thunderstorm was looming. Not a single person was found to leave the venue. Neither there was any objection when the Hindu Samhati procession blocked off Batar More for 15 minutes as a mark of protest to the worsening social and political scenario in the state. Not only did he highlight the torments faced by Hindu women in the border areas, he also emphasized the helplessness of BSF who are now unable to fire a single shot on the intruders whenever necessary. Many among the large gathering there also voiced their protests against the fast deterioration of law and order in Bengal. The procession ended at 7 pm before the Bangaon Town Hall.

Hindu Migration from Border villages now admitted by Media and Administion

Hindu migration from Indo Bangla border villages going on since long back. Only now Ananda Bazar Patrka and Police admit it. http://www.anandabazar.com/archive/1130623/23south3.html …

Rape attempts on housewives in Basirhat disgrace Bengal again

The attempted rape of two women at Kaijuri village under Swarupnagar P.S. of Bashirhat sub-division in North 24 Parganas district in the midnight of 19th June, 2013, by cross-border criminal elements has brought forth the vulnerability of women in the state once more. This incident flies in face of the massive outrage generated after the gang rape and gruesome murder of Ms Shipra Ghosh belonging to Kamduni village near Barasat. However, there is a difference in the attempted rape incident of Kaijuri; villagers are confident that assailants in this case are from other side of the border and the pathetic absence of even a semblence of an administration has turned the area into complete hell. And the helplessness of Border Security Force (BSF) who are under explicit orders not to use firearms has emboldend the criminals while the residents appear to have jumped from the proverbial frying pan into the fire.

It has come to knowledge that on June 19 at the dead of night, a culprit strived to rape a Hindu lady  in Kaijuri village of Swarupnagar P.S. When the victim, who is a housewife in her mid-thirties, fought back, the felon struck her head with a stick on her head and stabbed her genitals with a dagger. A few yards away from her house, another housewife (age 28) became target of yet another vicious rape attack at about the same time. Assailants were planning to kidnap her but had to flee when chased by the neighbours.  She was dumped to a nearby pond. The ghastly development has put up a new set of questions accordingly, the foremost of which is security of villagers which now is at stake. Even villagers were found to wonder whether Swarupnagar is still within the Indian dominion or a free zone that can be frequently marauded by criminals from other side of the border . According to villagers, this is no isolated incident and BSF’s inaction thanks to Central Government’s diktat has been instrumental behind the surge of such incidents; violent attacks and sexual harassments of women at Kaijuri in dusk have become regular affairs by now. Moreover, since the nearest police station is located at 10 kms. away, police assistance is the greatest casualty to them.  Both the injured housewives have been admitted to Basirhat Sub-division Hospital in a serious condition.

Minority community animated with onset of Panchayat Election

West Bengal State Election Commission, after lots of heated exchanges of words between it and State Government regarding Panchayat Election, has announced the date of Election finally. And the announcement of the same has infused a new stamina within the minority community of the state. The reason is not far to see – the minority community is well aware of the fact that their position will play a great role in the impending Panchayat election. This will be far reaching as well. While the political parties (cutting across political lines) will go on making lofty promises to them, their illegal activities will also not be heeded. To exploit this sudden development, the minority community is leaving no stone unturned.

An amount worth Rs. 10.5 lakh has already been sanctioned by the government to build up a graveyard at Dwarpara in Balagarh; Imams have demanded the state government for an honorarium of Rs. 10, 000 every month; efforts to make a mosque in a disputed land in Bangaon are unabated.  Apart from this, an intense anti-Hindu mindset among the minority community has also been noticed these days.

These include assault on Puja procession at Kaliachak, Malda; desecration of Holy idol of Goddess at a temple in Midnapur; torture as regards fencing a legal land of Hindus at Kantapukur, Bagnan; development of myriad illegal arms factories in various districts – there is simply no end to such precarious instances. All these indicate that minority people are aware of their own stakes best and these are being done through harming Hindus altogether. It’s also evident (if all these are in full swing) that they will attain their goal by mingling the greater part of West Bengal with Bangladesh.

But intellectuals go on with their old notions – terming Muslims as uneducated, backward and politically unconscious – all these make a commoner wonder the sagacity of these intellects, eulogized day in and day out. Can there be anyone who relies on these baseless ideas? The instances submitted above do confirm how Muslims are conscious of their political and communal sakes.

To make this analysis more sagacious, a few instances of pre-partition or pre-1947 Bengal must be taken into account. The entire state, then, was divided between 54% Muslims and 46% Hindus. Hence, three interim governments in Bengal preceding the partition in 1947 were headed by Muslims in a row. And this was nothing but the best instance of a strong political consciousness among Muslims. No representative of any minority community can head the government in a land dominated by Muslims. We failed to comprehend this cruel truth then and the same tradition of fallacy has been going on yet.

For this sole reason, we have been continuing to lick boots of Muslims unashamedly.

Some other pertinent facts must also be considered at this juncture. If population of Muslims in West Bengal become same as Hindus or simply outnumber, will it be possible for leaders including Mamata Banerjee, Buddhadeb Bhattacharya, Pradip Bhattacharya, Rahul Sinha to retain their own position. Nazrul Islam, a high-profile police official of Bengal government, has already demanded a Muslim Chief Minister for the state. Well, this claim, similar to the demand of Pakistan by Mohammed Ali Zinnah in 1940, may evoke laughter among people. But Zinnah’s success within a short span of 7 years proved that his demand had not been unfounded anyhow.

Similarly, if the present state of affairs in Bengal goes on unchecked, it’s sure that a Muslim individual will head the state before long. And the aftermath of this is as clear as daylight already – Bengali Hindus will have to surrender and flee en masse from their homeland once more.

West Bengal, as a result, is facing the worst crisis ever since its birth till date. The danger of a disaster is rising steadily and if Bengali Hindus desire to steer clear of this, there is no option for them except to wage a strong defence. Hindu Samhati, comprehending this grave crisis, has engaged itself in fortifying defence measures almost at every nook in the state. Naturally, the struggle is having both defeats and victories but no setback can dampen spirit of Hindu Samhati activists. They are committed in conveying one single message to all – without a united Hindu defence there is no hope. And in its absence future will be the greatest nemesis of their lives.  Deserting the warfront is no solution and there is nothing more ignominious than surrender in life.  Even if there is any defeat, the vigor of struggle remains intact. A novel, vibrant and vigorous Hindu society will come to the fore when this notion will be realized.

It’s, therefore, the time to decide the most apposite path – whether to bow to escalating oppressions by Islamists or wage a robust defence to conduct and complete a Hindu revolution. Let Hindus decide this.

Amta market confrontation ruled by communal overtone

A recent fracas at Kaltala More market in Amta, Howrah threw the administration out of gear for hours posing questions on the fast changing and precarious reality in the state. On 5th June, 2013, at 5 pm in the local market a burqa-clad woman was caught red-handed while stealing litchis from a fruit stall that was owned by another woman. The development led to a wild altercation between the two, which finally snapped when the fruit seller slapped the female thief. Without losing time, the burqa-clad woman phoned her acquaintances and within the next 30 minutes no less than 100 hooligans belonging to the Muslim community reached the spot from surrounding areas like Khainan, Gazipur, Deora, Chanderpur and started a mayhem. From the onset they were trying to exploit the detached silence of the neighbourhood and this got apparent when hoodlums started raising slogans to avenge an apparent insult of a Muslim woman by raising communally charged slogans. When the situation was fast moving out of control, other shopkeepers, sensing more trouble in the offing, unanimously came to the fore to stop the situation from worsening. Initially there was a heated argument between the two groups but it gave way to a direct confrontation pretty soon. Shopkeepers simply thrashed the hooligans with sticks of night guards in the area following which they made a hasty retreat.

But a complaint regarding the retaliatory attack by shop owners was lodged by Muslim youths the next day at the Amta police station. On the same evening, I.C. of police station went to Kaltala More market and warned the shopkeepers there of stern action if incident like this occurred in the future. The officer also instructed the shopkeepers that instead of thrashing, they should have handed the female thief over to the police station. And as a token punishment, the female fruit seller was ordered to shut down her shop. This act of gross injustice did not go down well with the rest of the shop owners who sensed a communal angle to the harsh sentence. The shopkeepers were so infuriated that they virtually chased the police team away from spot. The police team was smart enough to appreciate the mood of the market and fled from the scene almost instantly. Later on in the night, all shopkeepers of the market went to the Amta police station and protested against the nexus between police and offenders belonging to the Muslim community, specifically against the I.C. of Amta police station.

Sardar family in Joynagar having sleepless nights

Toofan Sardar and his family in Baneshwarpur, P.S. Joynagar, District: 24 Paraganas (South) are having sleepless nights these days. Their dreadful situation on June 4, 2013, at1 am when local thief Mohammed Bente Mandal, entered their residence stealthily.  According to Toofan and his relatives, Bente entered the house, made his way to the Puja room and even switch on the light, probably to note the actual position. Sensing danger Toofan and his brothers raised an alarm after which Mandal fled away for the time being. However, old habits die hard and Mandal was found to enter the Sardar residence once more after a gap of 2 hours. But this time the dog barked and he was eventually caught red-handed inviting fury of the residents. Toofan’s neighbors also joined the thrashing.

Later on, parents of Mohammed were called in to show the reality of their son. But out of shame they refused to accept Bente and asked Toofan and his family members to do whatever they wished to do with him. Largely out of kind heartedness, they warned and released Mandal.  However, the situation changed dramatically for the Sardar family on the next day. In the morning, a group of almost 100 armed Muslim were seen to move towards Toofan’s residence to avenge last night’s "insult". Surprisingly enough, the group contained both Mohammed Bente Mandal and his father! But a spirited defence put up by Toofan, his brothers and a few neighbors appeared to be too much for the bullies to overcome.  And opportune appearance of police saved the situation from deteriorating further.  But the crisis did not end there as thieves are being found to either enter or go around Sardar family’s residence day in and day out. The entire family is wondering whether peaceful, gentle life in Bengal has become a thing of the past.

Hindu Samhati’s Protest rocks Barasat

Justice to  Shipra at any cost

Braving natural disaster, thousands of people, representing all walks of life, joined the "Protest March" led by Hindu Samhati at Barasat to get justice for Shipra Ghosh, victim of gang rape and murder by Ansar Ali, Enamul, Rezzaq and Shaukat Ali.

How strong emotions can be got evident today itself when the entire Chanpadali More became standstill owing to the virulent protest. Not a single person was found to express his/her dissatisfaction even if the traffic just remained a dead lock there for hours.

And all these took place even if the police and administration left no stone unturned to subdue the same defiance. Apart from deployment of a large police contingent, special forces were also posted adequately to retain the saga of Secularism above all.

What amazed protesters and also bystanders was the temperament of police officials – ready to crack down on them – a spirit whose presence could have enabled Shipra to live a good life. And all these let loose a huge protest, joined by more than 250 lawyers from Barasat court in uniform, enabling Hindu Samhati to submit its memorandum to the District Magistrate at 4 PM.

Let’s join the struggle in strength OR next Shipra will be found in our own residence.

Gang Rape, Murder of College Girl Student in Barasat unleash Wild Protests

Furious locals decline police, administration

Barasat, at the moment, is witnessing a mass upsurge and with each moment it passes the struggle is intensifying as more and more people from all walks of life are voicing their stiff protests against the dastardly event – mass rape and murder of Shipra Ghosh, daughter of Sukumar Ghosh (daily laborer by profession), on June 7, 2013. Shipra was a student of BA (2 nd year) at Baguiati Derozio College and while returning from Lake Town College after examination there, she was abducted midway, gang raped and murdered.

Shipra Ghosh used to live in village: Kamduni, within the area of Kharibari in Rajarhat.

In accordance with local people, Shipra was passing by the very spot at 2.30 pm where a group of hoodlums including Ansar Ali, Enamul and Rezzaq was drinking alcohol. And in a blink of an eye the innocent girl was clutched by the ruffians, taken to the nearby Narkelbagan (a large vacant space enclosed by brick walls on all sides); she was raped there repeatedly and was murdered afterward. Later on, the dead body was thrown to the dam close at hand and the murderers left.

The dead body was discovered in the evening by locals triggering off an outburst of emotions and angry protests. Initially, considering outsiders loitering in the dam responsible behind the ghastly incident, locals let loose a wave of destruction – lots of vehicles including 12 motorbikes and 4 four-wheelers were destroyed. Equally culpable was the role of P.S. Rajarhat; despite several calls it refused to turn up. The very spot of rape and murder was cited by it as a place under the jurisdiction of P.S. Barasat. Such a snub proved to be the last straw on the horse’s back and the intensity of public outcry got apparent when a team of police from P.S. Barasat went to the dam to recover the dead body.

Owing to a fierce protest, police had to return empty handed. Even if high-profile police officials went there at 11 pm, the situation didn’t change and a skirmish between police and public took place only. The dead body remained beside the dam till late night.

On June 8, 2013, even if police managed to recover the dead body of innocent Shipra, a few reckless approaches did spark off another series of conflicts. It is learnt, Haji Nurul Islam, local MP and also infamous for provoking anti-Hindu riot at Deganga in 2010, instructed police to disperse the mob of protesters by any means, be it application of force.

Reportedly, windowpanes of his car were broken by the fuming mob.

As per fresh reports, two culprits behind the gang rape and murder of Shipra Ghosh – Ansar Ali and Enamul have been taken into custody while the third one Rezzaq is absconding. Shaukat Ali is also on the run. Two other youths – Gopal and Bhola, alleged to be there while drinking, have also been put behind bars.

Whole of Barasat is simmering in anger now while police is busy in tightening its security measures – a saga of which locals are skeptical to the largest extent.

Rape attempt on school girl foiled in Kasba, Kolkata, attacker arrested

Musharaf Sheikh who attempted to rape Rukmini (name changed), an 8 year old girl student of Class IV at Jagadish Vidyapith, in Kasba, Kolkata became victim of mob fury and was ultimately arrested by police. Ziarul Shiekh, his accomplice, was also put behind bars.  The brutal incident took place on May 7, 2013 at 1697, Rajdanga Main Road, CMDA, Plot MIG 193/89, P.S. Kasba, Kolkata – 107 in a building (under construction) where Rukmini’s father is a caretaker. Musharaf Sheikh is a resident of village: Maheshpur, P.S. Mograhat, Distirct: 24 Paraganas (South) and a laborer by profession who was working in the same real estate where the victim's father was also employed.

Rukmini is the second child of Bimal and Sabitri; the couple has three other children also. On the fateful day, at around 10 am victim's mother asked her to get her brother Papai. Rukmini, as a result, went everywhere and also to the building’s roof. She asked four laborers, including Musharaf Sheikh, who were working there of her brother. But they replied that Papai was downstairs. Hearing this Rukmini started going down but she was chased by Musharaf (age 34); suddenly he dragged her into a room in the third floor and attempted to rape her.

Musharaf, however, completely misjudged Rukmini who put up a valiant fight and ultimately prevailed over her perpetrator. She ran down screaming and informed her mother who raised an alarm instantly. A large crowd gathered there within minutes, got hold of Musharaf Sheikh and thrashed him.

Police came to the spot later on and took Musharaf Sheikh into custody. Ziarul Sheikh, guarding the room where Musharaf was torturing Rukmini, was arrested as well.

South Dinajpur district Imams demand steep increase in monthly allowance

Despite being provided Rs. 2,500 as monthly allowance, Imams across Bengal appear dissatisfied by the entitlements. Recently, a district conference was organized by Imams at Bilaspur High Madrasa in Karandighi Block of Dinajpur (South) district on 29th May as a show of dissatisfaction. The conference went on from 10 am to 5 pm and was attended by a thousand Imams and Maulavis. Their first and foremost demand was to press the government to increase their monthly package to Rs. 10,000. The meeting was presided by Mr. Abdul Azad from Murshidabad, chief secretary of the organization. Initiative to stop improper and commercial use of national emblems commences in Siliguri

Society against Misuse of Revered Figures has initiated a major public campaign and in this regard, they met Mr. K. Jayaraman, Commissioner of the Siliguri Metropolitan Police, on 31st May. They sought his intervention to stop desecration of Hindu gods and goddesses for commercial benefits. On the word of Ratan Banik, founder member of the organization and also lawyer by profession, a section of package manufacturers is being found to use sanctified symbols of Dharma and also of India on the packets of different useful goods. And people are trampling those unconsciously.

Apart from individual counseling, a drive to make people conscious of the same is also going on at the moment.  Members of the society claimed that a design has been hatched to desecrate hallowed emblems of India like Ashok Stambh, Ashok Chakra and several other symbols of national honor. Accordingly, they asked Commissioner of the Siliguri Metropolitan Police to adopt stern measures against all those deliberately dishonoring national icons. Mr. Jayaraman assured members of the society that each and every feature in this context would be checked.

Hapless grocer thrashed over trivial argument

Recently, Ukiler Haat locality at Ukilerbazaar town, under P.S. Kakdwip, District: 24 Parganas (South) witnessed the unfortunate thrashing of a shop owner over a trivial misunderstanding that would be normally sorted out amicably in most places. The event unfolded around 7 pm on 27th May when Mr Murshid, (age 32, s/o Nasir, P.O. Bishalaxmipur, P.S. Kakdwip) went to Renu Bhandar, a local grocery store owned by Mr. Pronoy Dutta and ordered a 500 gm bag of mustard oil among other things. He was given a 450 gm bag of the oil and was explained by Mr.Gourishankar Mandal, staffer at the store, that the parent company has recently changed the pack size along with lowering of price and the store is obliged to supply the same.

However, Mr. Murshed went on arguing while Mr Mandal tried desperately to placate him. Suddenly, he struck Gourishankar and went on to repeatedly thrash him. The development was so abrupt that people stood there astonished at the sudden outburst. Before they could react and save the staffer, a few local Muslims came to Renu Bhandar and took Murshid away to safety. Nevertheless, Murshid went on warning Gourishankar with dire consequences. While a small incident in the gradually shifting sands of Bengal's demography, Ukilerbazzaar has been witnessing a relatively higher growth of Muslims population in the area for a few years and concerned persons in administration do accept in confidence that illegal migration of Muslims from Bangladesh is culpable in this regard.

Shanties, governmental properties smashed to "avenge" tragic death

The tragic and accidental death of a Muslim woman quickly turned into a communally charged confrontation in Tikiapara, Howrah. The woman attempted to cross the railway tracks with her child when she was overrun by the Sheorafuli (down) commuter train around 7 pm on (May 27, 2013). The woman apparently survived the initial tragedy, even though her child survived. According to eye witnesses, the woman may have survived if prompt medical relief was provided to her by the Railway Protection Force or RPF who could have taken the victim to a nearby hospital. However, this did not happen and the victim succumbed to her injuries.

What followed next was nothing but a mindless attack on the railway property, including adjacent shanties inhabited by Hindus. The communal overtone was obvious from the choice of their target. The angry mob went berserk, destroying four commuter trains of the South-Eastern railway route as well as a number of long distance, express trains. The furious mob, consisting mostly of members of the Muslim community, carried on with the mayhem, leaving the passengers terror stricken while the RPF watched helplessly for a large part of the ensuing destruction. At the time of reporting, the police appeared to have calmed the rioters that managed to ravage significant amount of public property and left the area simmering with communal animosity after the days events.
