Pro-Islamist standpoint of administration thwarts peace meeting in Mograhat

Hindus walked out in protest, averse to compromise

Is the administration interested at all to nab the culprits and establish tranquility once more and retain it in the realm of Mograhat? There are enough reasons behind such question, parochial mind-set of the administration being the most unbearable aspect at the moment.

To find out a definite solution to the reigning tension in the area, a peace meeting was convened on May 02, 2012 (at 3 pm) in the office of BDO-Mograhat, joined by 7 members of each of Hindu and Muslim groups along with several officials of the administration including Mrs. Papiya Sultana, DSP (Falta Zone – 24 Paraganas – South), BDO-Mograhat and OC – P.S. Mograhat.

Nevertheless, the meeting, ever since its initiation appeared to be biased and when on earth Islamists raised the issue of compensation of Rs. 7 lakh (to be paid by Hindus exclusively), supported by officials present there wholeheartedly, the vicious intention to victimize Hindus became apparent.

It is worthwhile to mention that 12 Hindus, following the clash of April 29, 2012, have already been arrested while other Hindu youths are finding it difficult to remain in the village fearing police atrocities. Such an important issue was unheeded completely and whenever Hindus tried to point out this issue, they were inhibited.

3 Islamists were also arrested then and there but Akhtar Gazi, local and influential leader of Islamists, became instrumental in making police free them.

Finding no hope and witnessing the insular standpoint of local administration, Hindus walked out.

Hindus are averse to make any compromise.
